The versus!

I'm no expert when it comes to make up or the products that come along with the art of it, but trial and error is a way to go. Doing research is helpful. I love reading blogs and watching videos on youtube about this sort of thing. I like learning better by watching someone do than by reading (for the most part). I've also learned that asking never hurts. I always walk into cosmetic stores asking questions and if possible asking for samples. Don't want to be looking like a clown if I can avoid it. And don't be afraid to go for something out of your comfort zone, maybe you'll find something new you love.
Earlier this week I went into Ulta to get a couple of things I wanted to try out. In my mind brush are pretty much the starting point of make up, right? With the right brush or applicator every this can go on smoothly.... no pun intended. When I went back home after picking up a pair of brushes I rushed in and put them to the test.
Here I let you know my very non-expert opinion on how this went about and comparing with my previous products.

Anyway I was currently using a Benefit foundation brush in my make up routine. It was working fine for me with no problems, as far as I knew. As you can see the Benefit brush on the right, it slightly resembles a paint brush. And just like a paint brush it slathers your foundation right on. This being my first foundation brush brush I thought this was exactly how it was suppose to go. The more videos I watched and blogs I read I heard more about these Real Techniques brushes. Almost all of my favorite "beauty gurus " use them. Ulta is having a buy one get one 50% off and this was my perfect opportunity to try something new. I bought the Real techniques expert face brush.

Right off the bat you can see the differences. The real techniques brush has smaller bristles, is rounded, and has a denser top. While the Benefit one, as you can probably see, is a bit flatter. Then when you apply your foundation this Benefit brush kind of just slides it over your skin while Real Techniques buffs it in making the application look flawless and not streaky like the Benefit one.

The Expert Face Brush is ultra firm and broad for application and blending of cream or liquid foundation

Surprisingly enough I owned a blush brush way before I even set sights on a foundation one. This one I got years ago at a Kmart back when they were more prominent. I honestly don't remember the brand or even why I picked the one out of all of them. Again I didn't find anything wrong with this, but after years of use I definitely thought I needed to upgrade. The bristles on this old gal are not the softest and actually remind me of chihuahua fur (think the Taco bell one). Of all the Real Technique brushes I could have picked for blush (they all seem to be very versatile) I chose this Real Technique Stippling Brush. The thought really never crossed my mind of ever using a flat top brush. And I also didn't know what in the heck stippling was all about. This is where researching was done at it's fullest. Other than the brush being softer I also love then fact that you can use it one of two ways. You can either stipple your blush on or buff it on depending on your very own preference. But I repeat, this brush isn't just for blush, you can use it with your foundation for an airbrushed look as well.

The final step is a perfect finish. This dual-fiber brush is the trade secret for creating airbrushed, high-definition results with all types of makeup

Both of these Real Techniques brushes are made with ultra-plush, synthetic taklon bristles that are hand-cut and 100% cruelty-free. Self-standing for easy storage. And their aluminum handle is light and easy to use.
