Carmel by the sea and a sea of shopping

So this past Tuesday was quite eventful. Usually Tuesdays are the one day during the week I get to go out and hang out. The men get out of work early and the farmer's market is open. This day was particularly sunny and warm. Which here in Monterey is actually not something that happens often and at the same time in fact. Any, my friend Christina and I decided that we head to Carmel and enjoy their beautiful beach and strip of shops and restaurants. We first head to this cute little hole in the wall chinese restaurant called Tommy's Wok. Although small it was nice. Their food definitely made up for the small space.

As we were making way towards our shopping destination I was forced to stop. As some of you might know I am in love with my little pooch, Lily. So anytime I see something cute that reminds me of her I melt into a puddle of oogling mess. With a cute name like Diggity Dog I had to go in. First thing you see is stuffed animals and dessert like treats. Cookies, cupcakes, doughnuts, and even a martini glasses. They looked so delicious I wanted to take a bite. Also the prices were amazing! I've been to a pet boutique before and they sure tried to juice the money out of you, but not here. So I'll be going back soon.

Being from the city/suburbs I'm not use to seeing dog literally everywhere. It;s a refreshing sight. Apparently here in Carmel they are allowed into the shops and even the restaurants! According to my friend Carmel is voted one of the most dog friendly city in the U.S. But anyway, we saw this beautiful pooch (I'm not sure breed it is but OH M GOD YOU'RE So GORGEOUS!) This pup looked regal guarding the door to this jewelry store. It walked in and out as it pleased. I was very impressed. i know if Lily (my dog) was in the same situation she'd run around like a crazy person.

Next we headed to our favorite store here.... LUSH! Confession: We're total "Lushies". We always enjoy our visits there. The girls who work there are always so nice and knowledgeable. Alyssa is our favorite and always get down to business when I bombard her with questions. You walk in and see and smell assortment of colors and aromas. It's intoxicating sometimes and makes you forget what you even walked in for. It's dangerous. When I finally get my head on straight I go for the goal. I went in specifically for two things. My Aqua Mirabilis and a shower gel by the name of Sonic Death Monkey (which is apparently named after a band in one of Jack Black's movies. I don't remember which.) I picked up the first but sadly didn't find the ladder. So to substitute the shower gel I decided to pick up a body lotion. I've only recently started noticing that I actually have really dry skin. Maybe it's been the water change or I've just not noticed... hmm weird. Anyway like I said before, I grabbed a one of the girls and asked a million questions. I was suggested a couple of thing such as Vanilla Dee-light, coco lotion, and Sympathy for the skin. All very popular for drier skins. After trying all three and getting a rash from Vanilla dee-light (edit: after a week I finally realized why i broke out in a rash... this lotion contains kiwi, which I'm allergic to.) I decided on Sympathy for the skin. This lotion has organic bananas and vanilla (Which made me think of smoothies and I definitely want to smell like those!), lemon oil, and sandal wood. And then the beast dragged me in. I had to get a little something extra. Face maaaaasks! Well just one. It's always so hard to figure out which one to try. Love Lettuce it was! Funnily enough there is no lettuce in this. At least from what I read online here at 6am with no sleep. So i'll fix that as soon as I get sleep. Anyway it cleans, exfoliates, and feels amazing overall.

Seeing as the sun was out and I really need a tan, we headed to the beach. It's located on Ocean Avenue (i know you started singing the Yellow Card song too) and this is where my husband and I got married!! Don't be fooled by the rays of sun and the wonderful blue color. That water is freaking freezing! Is it normal to dip your feet into the water and then all you leg bones hurt all the way up to your bum? I hope so, otherwise I'm getting too old for this.

We left our blanket and food while we got closer to the water. I turned around to see a seagull hovering over our stuff. Both my friend and I we so shocked, that we just gawked at it. I think it telepathically called for its fellow bird friends because out of nowhere there were like five more and then BAM! They landed and and made way with half a sandwich and some pudding. I dashed to save our shoes and brownies. I really thought that my presence would scare them off but I was more terrified to realize they were still there and staring at me. I was scared I'd either get pooped on or pecked to death!! It was some scary stuff, but as you can tell I made it out to see another day.

Here are the things I got from lush!

I've been really getting into reading Essiebutton's blog and watching all here videos. (I'm a big fan!) Anyway, I decided I needed to try some of the products she's mentioned. I need to branch out try new things. Real Techniques has been on my wishlist for a couple of months, but I haven't found just the right time to get anything. This week I found that Ulta was actually having a sale for buy one get one half off. I already own a foundation and blush brush but I needed to try something different. Speaking of different, has anyone tried purple blush?! It's crazy yet so pretty! Any who I'll try to review them in a later post.

  1. Next try the comforter bubble bath pictured in the fourth photo! Makes the water go pink, you get lots of bubbles and it smells like love heart sweets (hopefully you know what they are or otherwise like sherbert!) N x

  2. I know exactly what you mean about the smell. Also I actually bought the bubble bar on my last visit and am so in love with. I only have about one third left of it. Have you tried the other ones? The smells didn't really convince me but if they change when in the water I might give them a try. Thank you, by the way, for your comment :)

    1. I have tried one of their christmas editions but I'm a little apprehensive to buy different normal ones seeing as I'm so in love with the comforter one! Which one would you suggest? N x
