Today we decided to adventure in Seoul. Not anything too big but something new none the less. Since I've been here every weekend all the airmen go snowboarding in this cool resort somewhere in Seoul. Sadly its the end of the season and everything is kind of run down by now. The snow is artificial and basically a sheet of ice. None of this seemed appealing at this time. I didn't want to pay money to bust my butt and then not have an opportunity to come back and regain honor to my name. Any way long story short we decided on rock climbing instead.
After an hour long bus ride and a short subway ride we made it to one of the many towns in Seoul, Sinban. The architecture in this town was awesome. I'm from Atlanta and even there I never saw something as nice.
So elegant and just simply a cafe |
Biggest Starbucks I've seen |
After what seemed like furthest I have ever traveled simply for physical activity, pretty redundant don't you think? We finally got there. The JA's, an apparently family owned business. I heard this place has some of the best in the world. Could be an exaggeration. Any way one of our friends was leading us to our destination. So when we walk into this fancy building, fancy spiraling staircase, and a chandelier all the way down...... we were super confused. Once we reached the bottom of those stairs though.... everything changed. We had just walked into the "hippest" place ever! Cool music, long hair (on both males and females), and long stares. Those stares coming to us from people who probably saw our super confused looks and thought "Losers".
As soon as the wave of shock rolled over us we became a little too confidant too soon. When you looked around all you saw were simple walls . (continued March 9th) Once you got closer you could see your were mistaking. There were straight walls, jagged walls, and even a couple of ceiling parts. Yours truly definitely didn't try the latter. As I saw these strong men, the men who I accompanied here, climbing the walls I was quickly intimidated. As I told them "You have muscles and I have couch potato arms!" One thing I've learned though is you have to push yourself otherwise you'll never enjoy life. Anyway I waited to find a piece of the wall hidden from everyone else and I climbed! I was proud to find myself hanging on for more than a couple of seconds. I even scaled a couple of feet. Hey, I'm a newbie and I did great. I will let you in a little secret..... some of the guys weren't that great either, hahahahahhaha!
My husband never taking anything serious. |
Two hours went by and we were having a blast. I'm not one for physical activity but I wouldn't mind going again. I found it to be a great deal too. For 20,000₩ / Twenty dollars you can climb to your hearts content and you if you don't have your own shoes they'll lend you some free of charge. This was overall a wonderful experience and would suggest it to anyone.
Colorful but don't be fooled, super hard. |
